You screenshot competitor ads and sign up for their emails - but never turn it into action.

You browse the Meta Ad Library. You sign up for competitor newsletters with a burner email. You check their site every few weeks. But the intel sits in screenshots and browser tabs. You never synthesize it into a strategic picture, and you never build a specific response. Meanwhile, competitors are studying you the same way - and some of them are acting on what they find.

Competitor pricing change
Without this skill

"Competitor dropped prices 20%. Should we match? Maybe we should run a sale too."

With this skill

"Competitor dropped prices 20% across their subscription tier. Their reviews show 40% of subscribers cite price as the reason they chose them. Do not match - your subscribers have 2x higher retention because they buy on quality, not price. Counter-move: add a subscriber-only bonus product ($3 cost, $15 perceived value) to widen the value gap without touching your margin."

Competitor ad analysis
Without this skill

"They are running a lot of UGC ads. We should do more UGC too."

With this skill

"Their longest-running ad (90+ days) is a UGC video targeting solution-aware buyers. They have zero unaware or problem-aware ads. Cold traffic is their weakness. Counter-move: build problem-aware content ads targeting the top of funnel they are ignoring. Execute with /dtc-ad-creative."

What you get.

01

7-Lens Teardown Framework

Positioning, product and pricing, conversion architecture, content and SEO, creative and ads, email/SMS, and tech stack - each analyzed against your brand context with specific findings.

02

Counter-Move Cards

For every significant finding, a specific action with the observation, why it matters for your brand, what to do, and which execution skill builds the response.

03

Living Competitor Profiles

Structured profiles saved to brand/competitors.md that every other skill can reference. Builds institutional memory about your competitive landscape.

04

Competitive Landscape Map

When you have 3+ competitors profiled, generates a 2x2 positioning matrix showing where everyone sits, where the white space is, and where to play.

When to use this.

Tearing down a direct competitor before building your next ad campaign or landing page

Responding to a competitor price change, product launch, or new campaign with specific counter-moves

Mapping the competitive landscape before a rebrand or repositioning effort

Identifying content and SEO gaps where competitors are not competing

Building comparison content or competitive landing pages based on factual intelligence

Common questions.

How is this different from the competitor analysis in Brand Brain?

Brand Brain includes a basic competitor positioning snapshot. This skill goes deeper across 7 dimensions, produces Counter-Move Cards with specific actions, chains to execution skills, maintains living competitor profiles, and generates landscape maps. Brand Brain is the starting point - this is the operating system for ongoing competitive intelligence.

What if I do not have a Brand Brain set up?

The skill still works. Without Brand Brain context, counter-moves will be less calibrated to your specific brand but still actionable. Setting up your Brand Brain first makes every teardown significantly more valuable.

Can I use competitor intel in my ads?

Yes - factual comparisons are legal and effective. The skill recommends compliant approaches. When in doubt, frame comparisons against "typical products" rather than naming specific competitors.

Stop collecting screenshots. Start building counter-moves.

Turn competitor URLs into strategic briefs that tell you exactly what they are doing, why it matters, and what to build next.

What this skill does

OODA-based competitive intelligence for DTC brands. Observe with a 7-Lens Teardown covering positioning, product and pricing, conversion architecture, content and SEO, creative and ads, email/SMS, and tech stack. Orient findings through your brand context from Brand Brain. Decide with structured Counter-Move Cards that rank observations by impact and urgency. Act by chaining each counter-move to the specific execution skill that builds the response. Two auto-detected depths: full teardown for new competitors (writes a reusable profile), focused brief for known competitors (change detection against existing profile). Landscape Map auto-generates when 3+ competitors are profiled, producing a 2x2 positioning matrix and white space identification.
