Run Your First Daily Brief
You've installed StoreBrief and connected your data. Here's what happens when you run your first daily brief - and what to do after.
The first-run experience
When you type "Run my daily brief" for the first time, StoreBrief will ask you to provide store context. This is a one-time setup - it saves this information for all future briefs.
StoreBrief will ask for:
STORE CONTEXT:
- Store name
- Shopify URL (your-store.myshopify.com)
- Monthly revenue range
- Number of SKUs
- Primary product category
- Average order value
- Main acquisition channels
- Team size
AD SPEND CONTEXT:
- Monthly ad spend
- Primary ad platform (Meta, Google, both)
- Target MER (default: 5x)
OPERATIONAL PREFERENCES:
- Your timezone
- Alert threshold (default: Tier 2+)
Just answer naturally - you don't need to fill out a form. Something like:
We're a supplement brand doing about $80K/mo. 45 SKUs, mostly sold through Meta ads.
AOV is around $65. Team of 3. We spend about $15K/mo on ads, mostly Meta with some Google.
We're in Eastern time.
StoreBrief will parse this and confirm what it understood.
What the daily brief looks like
After context is set, you'll get a brief like this:
STORE PERFORMANCE - Feb 28, 2026
Revenue: $4,847 | 7d avg: $5,120 | DoD: -5.3% ↓
Orders: 62 | 7d avg: 65 | DoD: -4.6% ↓
AOV: $78.18 | 7d avg: $78.77 | DoD: -0.7% →
Sessions: 1,240 | 7d avg: 1,180 | DoD: +5.1% ↑
Conv Rate: 5.0% | 7d avg: 5.5% | DoD: -0.5pp ↓
⚠ WATCH: Sessions up, conversion down. Traffic quality issue
or landing page friction.
→ Check top landing pages for yesterday - something may be
underperforming.
Ad Spend: $620 | MER: 7.8x [Target: 8.5x] BELOW TARGET
→ Monitor for 48 hours. If MER doesn't recover, review ad
creative performance by campaign.
EMAIL (Klaviyo):
Flow revenue: $312 (6.4% of total) - Welcome: $180,
Abandoned Cart: $92, Post-Purchase: $40
Campaign sent yesterday: "Spring Sale Reminder" -
22.1% open, 3.2% click, $890 revenue
List health: 12,400 subscribers, 0.3% unsubscribe rate ✓
INVENTORY WATCH:
⚠ Collagen Peptides (Unflavored) - 14-day supply remaining
at current velocity. Reorder recommended.
NO ESCALATIONS.
The brief is typically 300-400 words. It covers the key metrics, flags anything worth watching, and gives specific recommendations - not generic advice.
Understanding the brief
Trend arrows:
- ↑ or ↓ = meaningful change (>2% day-over-day)
- → = flat / within normal range
Alert levels:
- WATCH = worth monitoring, no action needed yet
- ALERT = requires attention within 24-48 hours
- ESCALATE = needs immediate action
MER thresholds:
- 5x+ = healthy
- 3-5x = monitor closely
- Below 3x = escalation trigger
What to do after your first brief
Ask follow-up questions
The brief is a starting point. Dig into anything that looks off:
- "Why is conversion rate down?" - StoreBrief will check landing pages, traffic sources, and recent changes
- "Why is AOV dropping?" - triggers the 6-step AOV diagnostic tree
- "Show me this week's trend" - 7-day view of all metrics
- "What's driving the MER drop?" - channel-level ad performance breakdown
Try operational commands
- "Create a product draft for [name]" - builds a draft product in Shopify
- "What's my inventory risk?" - flags low-stock products by velocity
- "Check for leaky discount codes" - finds codes shared on coupon sites
- "Run a Klaviyo health check" - full email channel diagnostic
Set up a daily routine
StoreBrief works best as a daily habit. Each morning:
- Open your AI client
- Type "Run my daily brief"
- Review the brief (~1 minute)
- Ask follow-ups on anything flagged (~2-5 minutes)
- Take action on recommendations
Total time: 5-10 minutes per day. Replaces 30-60 minutes of dashboard checking.
